At Brainz we believe that choosing to get a college education is one of the most pivotal choices a person makes. While there are plenty of good schools out there, there are also plenty of colleges that are more interested in making a profit than providing a good education.
Because of this disparity in quality, we believe in highlighting college rankings that do a good job of separating the top colleges out from all the rest. When we highlight a ranking, we feel strongly enough that it's editorial standards are high enough that we could recommend any school on the list without hesitation.
And that's how we see rankings. It's not that you should only go to the very highest ranked school. But a ranking narrows your choices down from several thousand to just 50 or 25 or 10.
In their ranking of the top online colleges of 2012, SuperScholar has put together what it considers to be "Smart Choices" for an online education. Upon looking through their list, we were impressed with the schools enough to determine that of all the rankings we could find for online schools in 2012, this one was best of the bunch. Here is their list.
