Gas is naturally produced in the human body and is also naturally passed. It can pass either through the mouth (burping) or through the rectum (flatulence). On the average, people pass gas 12 to 14 times a day. While this is normal, it can be embarrassing and can cause pain or discomfort if there is too much gas produced. If you constantly experience gas and gas pains, then you might want to consider some home remedies that will help lessen the problem. You have to realize, however, that you can never totally get rid of the gas - it is part of the natural process - but you can take it down to normal levels so as to avoid the pain and the embarrassment.
The main thing is for you to watch what you eat. Certain kinds of food cause gas more than others. To make it even more complicated, people are affected differently. In general, carbohydrates can cause more gas than other food. Also try to avoid carbonated drinks. Avoid beans and other food items that are known to cause gas. You also need to observe what specific food items trigger gas pain.
Herbal teas are excellent in helping soothe your stomach when you feel pains due to gas. Try teas made from anise, peppermint, fennel, or chamomile - their stomach-soothing properties have long been hailed. You can also make your own solution by getting some lemon verbana leaves, blanching them, and drink the “tea”.
Ginger (freshly grated) and lime juice - 1 teaspoon of each - combined and taken after a meal will help alleviate stomach pain.
