Cookies have been known and cooked since centuries ago. Even archaeological digs on Persia that date back to the 7th century showed cookies were already being made by the Persians at that time.
The basic cookie recipe will include flour, sugar, salt, butter and eggs. There are some cookies that will use rising agents like baking powder or baking soda. It can then be given more flavor with the addition of certain spices like cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. There are also a number of ways for forming the cookie. It can be rolled, pressed, dropped, or molded into various shapes. There are cookies that are given a filling or rolled in more spices. Different people have different preferences about the texture of a cookie. Some like it thin with a crunch. Others like it chewy, while others like a little crunch on the outside of the cookie but moistness and chewiness inside. One interesting thing about cookies is that even if it is known before a little cake, most cookies don’t actually have a cake texture.
