There are times when one simply does not have the energy to stay awake. It may be that you did not get enough sleep the night before. Or maybe you have not been sleeping well for a while. Whatever the reason, there are instances that you can use all the help that you can get to stay awake.

Coffee has long been the beverage of choice of people that need to stay awake. Its caffeine content will give you the jolt that you need. However, there is a drawback to drinking coffee to stay awake. It will give you the energy you need almost immediately, but it will not sustain you for long.
Instead of relying solely on coffee, you might want to eat food with lean protein and healthy carbohydrates in small amounts all throughout the day (or night). You have to eat small amounts of these food items so that you will have a constant supply of energy. Do not make the mistake of eating too much at a time as you will only suffer from a crash sooner or later.
