What Is a Paraffin Wax Treatment?

A paraffin wax treatment is a beauty treatment that, as the name implies, makes use of paraffin wax to moisturize and soften the skin. This kind of treatment is applied to various parts of the body and is now a standard treatment offered in practically any spa. Most often, however, a paraffin wax treatment is applied together with a manicure and a pedicure - on the hands and feet, respectively.

Paraffin wax is a special type of wax that is very soft, thanks to the paraffin oil it contains. Since it is soft, paraffin wax melts at lower temperature than other types of wax. This makes it perfect for application on the skin as it will not burn or damage the skin. On the contrary, it helps rejuvenate the skin. Aromatic oils are usually added to paraffin wax in order to maximize the benefits of the treatment. These oils offer the added benefit of aromatherapy which also relaxes and rejuvenates the client.

How is paraffin wax applied? The usual process requires the client to dip her hands and feet slowly in a vat of melted paraffin wax. Several dips may be required. Once the hands and feet are coated well, they are covered in plastic wrap and left to soak for 30 minutes. At this point, the wax will have solidified and can be removed rather easily. The result is butter soft skin!

If you suffer from dry hands or cracked heels, regular paraffin wax treatment will do you wonders! Even after one treatment, you can already feel the difference.
