What Is Quality Assurance?

Quality assurance is a type of manufacturing process that is used for finding out if a product or service actually conforms or surpasses the expectations of customers. Quality assurance is an approach that is driven by the process. It has specific steps that need to be followed in order to define the goals and to achieve it. The quality assurance process involves the design, development, production and service.

One of the most popular techniques used for finding out about quality assurance is the Shewhart Cycle. This technique, which was developed by Dr. W. Edwards Deming, is comprised of four distinct steps -- Plan, Do , Check and Act, which is usually abbreviated to PDCA.

In Plan, the objectives and processes that are needed in order to give the wanted results are identified. In Do, the process that has been developed is implemented. In Check the implemented process is monitored and evaluated. This is done through the testing of the results against the objectives. In Act, the necessary actions needed in order to improve quality assurance is implemented.

PDCA is recognized as a great method for checking out quality assurance because it is able to look at and evaluate the conditions and methods that are currently in place. The objective is to make sure that excellence is inculcated into every step of the process. Quality assurance is also helpful in finding out if the steps that have been used to make the product or service available is apt for the particular time and the conditions. the PDCA is also repeated all throughout the lifetime of the product or the service in order to help ensure the internal efficiency of the company.
