What is Santa Muerte ?
Santa Muerte, also known in many Latin American cultures as the Saint of Death, also known as La Santísima Muerte or Most Holy Death and Doña Sebastiana or Lady Sebastienne, is a religious figure who receives petitions for love, luck, and protection. Saint Death is often depicted as a skeleton dressed in a white tunic. The Catholic Church has denounced the worship of Santa Muerte as a pagan, however it has a massive following in Mexico,Honduras, and El Salvador. As well as a growing number of followers in the United States in Chicano populations. Santa Muerte Tattoos are popular amongst the prison population in these countries as well.
