Mary Magdalene is considered as one of the most controversial figure in the New Testament. Her name was only mentioned a few times in the Gospel but her identity was highly debated especially when a theory explaining that she was the wife or at least had a relationship to Jesus in an intimate way, cam out. The issue was intensified when Dan Brown, the author of the best selling Da Vinci Code extensively discussed about the life of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. The book has faced tremendous criticisms as it will affect the holiness of Jesus Christ and will contradict the teaching of the church, thereby shattering the faith of millions of followers of the Christian faith.
Mary Magdalene however was considered a saint. It was said that after Jesus Christ died, she spent her time in France where she devoted herself to teaching Christianity in the region. Her remains when she died were said to be kept in a small church in France. In the Gospel, it was accounted that Mary Magdalene is a local prostitute that Jesus has purified by casting away the demons in het life, which in that case, her inappropriate sexual misconduct. However, Mary Magdalene was also confused with the woman that which Jesus has defended so that she will not be stoned to death for committing adultery. The history of Mary Magdalene is not really clear, but one thing is for sure, she has a connection with Jesus and she is one of the women who have supported Jesus Christ in his life.
